'American author and engineer Charles Roth uses the VHDL language to describe a variety of different systems. One of the best parts of this book is the selection of different system examples, covering a variety of applications. Some of the chapters also include comments about how VHDL could be used with other parts of the design process.'. Reviews I have used this book for my introductory computer architecture course for a couple of semesters now. The author is very knowledgeable in the VHDL language and was able to explain the concepts in a way that made sense to me. I found this book to be a very worthwhile purchase. 4 out of 5 Katy (verified owner)–Jun 14, 2015 These days, many of the college courses on computer science require that students take the fundamental theory behind the technology, so I'm always looking for something that covers the core principles while being practical in application. Digital Systems Design Using VHDL 2nd Edition is a great book for this purpose. The language used in this book was quite straightforward to understand. The book was also very comprehensive, and the author's comments on how VHDL could be used effectively with the design process was very helpful. This book is an excellent learning tool. 5 out of 5 Aykan/Savas (verified owner)–Jul 29, 2014 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! 2 out of 5 Joao (verified owner)–Feb 19, 2014 This book is a must if you plan to study a course in computer engineering or even just want to start understanding the basics of VHDL, but I found it to be not as good as the original book. For example, chapter 2 contains an extremely detailed explanation of VHDL syntax and how the language is used to describe hardware. It seems to me that they tried to cover too many topics in a very short space of time. Although this book contains a lot of useful information, I would strongly advise you to read Digital Systems Design Using VHDL first. If you're looking for a comprehensive book that covers the entire VHDL language, then this isn't the best choice. It covers the basics very well, but lacks depth. However, if you want to dive
